 The Election Commission suspended the membership of 154 MPs



The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has suspended the membership of 154 members of the National Assembly and Senate, including federal ministers, for failing to submit details of assets.



According to the report of the news agency, the Election Commission has suspended the membership of 195 members of the Senate including the Federal Ministers, National Assembly and Provincial Assemblies who did not submit the details of assets despite being given a deadline.



The ECP had given a deadline of January 16 to 394 members of parliament who did not submit details, but suspended 103 members of the provincial assembly, 48 members of the National Assembly and three senators for not submitting details.


The suspended members include Federal Ministers Fawad Chaudhry, Fehmida Mirza and Ali Haider Zaidi. The suspended members of the National Assembly include Rohail Asghar, Maiza Hameed, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Mohammad Khan Leghari and Mir Khan Mohammad Jamali. There are mentions.


Besides, the membership of Senate members Musaddiq Malik, Kamran Michael and Shamim Afridi has also been suspended. Out of the suspended members, 52 members of Punjab Assembly, 26 members of KP Assembly, 19 members of Sindh Assembly and 19 members of Balochistan Assembly have been suspended. Includes 6 members of the Assembly.


It may be recalled that a total of 1,195 members of the Senate, National Assembly and Provincial Assemblies were given a deadline of December 31 to submit details of their assets to the Election Commission. After December 31, 394 members of Parliament did not submit details of their assets. Later, the Election Commission gave these members another respite till January 16.
